Bako - Korn County

A collection of collages made with film photos I took over the span of five years. A small showcase of life in a sleepy town, nested in the middle of the buzzing state of California. Bakersfield almost feels like the eye of the storm at times, both a physical and mental respite from the speed and tension found in California’s major cities. Bakersfield and the surrounding townships often seem like a desert moon orbiting the physical prowess of Los Angeles and San Francisco. I find comfort in the other martians with me here. Our lives and stories are unique, and I believe our collective knowledge and experiences are worth more in weight than gold.
